The story of Gedigo

Gedigo was founded by Anne-Mari Sundqvist in 2006. The company, then called Anneco Design, offered textile planning and sewing services at first. Today the name Anneco Design is used when offering tailor-made products for companies.

Soon after the start Anne-Mari's friend Maria got in touch with her, suggesting some design ideas for children's accessories. But both Anne-Mari's and Maria's plans for the company changed, when they noticed a lack of good-looking travel storage solutions on the market.

In spring 2007 the first collection ”Coastal Living” was born. Right from the beginning its' products were sold in Finnish interior design stores throughout the country. Nowadays Gedigo has close to 20 retailers in Finland. Coastal Living was later followed by a christmas collection and the winter collection ”White Season”.

In january 2010 the time felt right for a new brand – Gedigo. The name is a combination of the Swedish word for genuine – gedigen, and the English word go, which stands for active people on the go. We do our best to support sustainable development as opposed to a culture of wear and tear, by producing elegant and durable products which last from generation to generation. We also strive to acquire as much of the raw materials as possible from the Scandinavian countries, to avoid unnecessary transports.

Gedigo consists of the owner Anne-Marie Sundqvist and the designers Idun Mattsson and Maria Ahola. The company is located in the idyllic smalltown of Naantali on the south west coast of Finland, about 15 km from Turku. In the summertime the town welcomes lots of tourists visiting the well-known Moomin World, Old Town or the guest harbour.
